Dr. Jeff Datto's platform
Florida First.
Families First. Fairness First.
A plan to cut waste, strengthen families, and build the future.
These are Dr. Jeff's stated positions and developed proposals. Details still under development are identified below; proposals are not enacted programs or a costed implementation plan.
These are my positions and proposals for Florida. Explore a subject below, or search the complete platform.
Florida Institutes of HealthCreate a public-interest medical-research and healthcare institution focused on serious disease, injury recovery, mental health, and longevity, including genetic diseases, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue syndrome, and hydrocephalus.
Create a public-interest medical-research and healthcare institution focused on serious disease, injury recovery, mental health, and longevity, including genetic diseases, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue syndrome, and hydrocephalus. Require reproducible research, independent scrutiny, and safeguards against biased incentives. Invest in young scientists and redirect resources recovered from scientific fraud toward ethical innovation.
Build Florida’s research capacity around serious disease, injury, disability, and longevity. Preserve paralysis, Krabbe disease, Canavan disease, hydrocephalus, autoimmune conditions, and chronic fatigue in the research agenda. Study patient experiences, medical mislabeling, and the cost and waste associated with care and equipment.
My proposed Florida Institutes of Health research agenda includes comparing sleep-apnea treatments and simpler interventions for effectiveness, cost, and patient outcomes; studying bipolar overdiagnosis, misdiagnosis, medications, and consequences for patients and families; and investigating chronic fatigue, post-viral illness, and reported illness after vaccination. These are questions for rigorous research, not predetermined conclusions.
Research priorities include comparing CPAP and other sleep-apnea treatments with adjustable beds, recliners, and head elevation; examining diagnostic accuracy, treatment, and family consequences in bipolar disorder; and investigating whether COVID vaccination triggered chronic fatigue syndrome in some people. These questions require evidence; they are not claims of proven causation or advice to stop prescribed treatment.
Healthcare that puts patients firstUniversal, income-based healthcare, stronger public hospitals and clinics, and patient choice.
Build a strong public-health system, strengthen public hospitals and community clinics, and make necessary care accessible according to income and need. Patients’ interests should come before insurance-company control. I support expanding healthcare portability and patient choice across state lines.
We’re going to build the strongest public health system in the world. Health care should not depend on how much money you have. If you have little, you should pay little or nothing. If you have more, you should contribute more. But every resident should be able to get the best care possible. I am not interested in a system where the wealthy get the best doctors, the best hospitals, and the best outcomes while everyone else is left to struggle. I want a system built on human need, not just purchasing power. As Governor, I will fight to move us toward universal, income-based coverage, strengthen public hospitals and clinics, and build a public health system so strong, efficient, transparent, and high-quality that it becomes the standard the rest of the world looks to.
Abolish all charter schools and bring them into public educationEnd the separate charter-school system statewide, with opportunities for employees to work for the state.
I want to abolish all charter schools in Florida and bring those schools into the state public education system. Their employees should have opportunities to work for the state.
I want the state to take responsibility for our public education system throughout Florida. This is a proposal to end the separate charter-school system, not merely increase oversight of it.
Private adult home pokerProtect private adult home poker, without buy-in or bankroll caps or a government rake.
I support private, adult, noncommercial home poker and propose repealing the $10-per-hand restriction.
My proposal rejects buy-in and bankroll caps for private home games, permits agreed payments or tips to independent dealers, servers, and entertainers, and rejects a government rake or fee. Games must remain adult, private, and noncommercial, without operating as a business.
A dedicated public-accountability divisionBegin establishing a dedicated division upon taking office, with a public website for complaints and video evidence.
Begin establishing a dedicated division upon taking office, with a public website for complaints and video evidence. Use My Florida AI to organize submissions, identify patterns, and support human investigators. Review misconduct predating inauguration as well as new conduct. I want immediate corrective action when just cause is established, including termination for serious misconduct through the applicable process. Redirect documented savings to Floridians in need. “Florida Public Accountability Division” is the working name developed for this proposal.
Fair courts and protection for familiesReform courts and agencies so people receive timely hearings, access to evidence, due process, and equal treatment regardless of wealth, disability, or self-representation.
Reform courts and agencies so people receive timely hearings, access to evidence, due process, and equal treatment regardless of wealth, disability, or self-representation. Protect children from genuine harm, respect lawful parental rights, and preserve families whenever safely possible. Hold judges, lawyers, agencies, and court personnel accountable through lawful processes.
Affordability and responsible taxesProtect household affordability, essential services, renters, and home equity.
Put Florida residents and working families first when making decisions about housing, insurance, utilities, growth, and public spending. Protect essential public services. If landlords receive property-tax reductions, renters should receive a fair, proportional rent reduction.
Protect homeowners from being pushed into giving up valuable home equity without a clear understanding of their options. People facing financial hardship or disability deserve clear information and fair treatment when trying to keep their homes.
Vote Dr. Jeff and vote NO on Amendment ThreeMy recommendation pairs a vote for Dr. Jeff with a NO vote on Amendment Three.
My recommendation is a combination: vote for Dr. Jeff Datto for Governor and vote NO on Amendment Three.
I have significant concerns about keeping that money in government’s hands if David Jolly is running Florida. I believe he would waste it on policies I disagree with and leave Floridians worse off.
The combination I support is Dr. Jeff for Governor and NO on Amendment Three. Otherwise, Florida, save your money.
Immigration and human dignitySecure borders and communities; judge people by character and conduct rather than wealth.
Secure borders and protect Florida communities, faith, family, freedom, civil rights, and voter choice. Judge immigrants by character and conduct rather than wealth, including protecting and retaining people of good character regardless of financial resources.
Strong public education and fair university fundingProtect excellent public schools, academic freedom, scientific integrity, and university autonomy with accountability.
Protect excellent public schools, academic freedom, scientific integrity, and university autonomy with accountability. Support transparent, responsible review of public higher-education funding and invest in facilities, research, faculty, student success, and workforce preparation where justified. Public universities should not be politically micromanaged.
Florida must provide FAMU with full one-to-one land-grant funding and transparent, targeted catch-up investment where past underfunding occurred. I support FAMU’s historic mission, academic freedom, institutional autonomy with accountability, student success, workforce development, research partnerships, and strong protections against discrimination. Florida should develop tuition- and housing-supported Florida First educational pathways for students who commit to working and serving in Florida after graduation.
Florida First education-to-work pathwaysBuild transparent, merit-based partnerships with Florida employers for paid internships, co-ops, research, training, and careers.
Build transparent, merit-based partnerships with Florida employers for paid internships, co-ops, research, training, and careers. Give young people opportunities to serve and build their futures here at home.
Safe accommodation for people experiencing homelessnessBuild hotels so people experiencing homelessness have a safe place to stay with dignity.
I believe in opportunity. Homelessness should not be treated as proof that someone is mentally ill or as a problem solved simply by putting people in jail or institutions. I intend to build hotels for people experiencing homelessness so they have a safe place to stay, with dignity and a chance to move forward.
I intend to build hotels for the homeless so people have a safe place to stay. In the winter of 2025, all the homeless shelters were full. Where was I supposed to go?
Publicly owned My Florida AIDevelop Florida’s own publicly owned AI system and public AI data center to improve services, reduce unnecessary costs, and keep the benefits under public control.
Develop Florida’s own publicly owned AI system and public AI data center to improve services, reduce unnecessary costs, and keep the benefits under public control. Use transparent, human-controlled AI in government, court administration, education, policing, and medical research. Preserve reviewability, civil rights, and due process.
Standing Together for LifeLife from conception, dignity throughout life, and an explicit commitment to affected children and families.
I stand for life from conception and for dignity throughout life. That includes children, parents, people who are sick or disabled, and elderly Floridians. Fight mental-health stigma and discrimination against gay people. Judge parents and caregivers by their character, love, responsibility, and ability to provide safety and stability, rather than sexuality.
My agreement to banning abortion is conditional on Florida leading the nation and the world in research, treatment, and support for children born with neurological conditions and their families. That commitment to children and families must be part of the policy.
Judicial elections voters can participate inMove final contested circuit and county judicial elections to November: two candidates advance directly; larger fields narrow to two in August.
Move final contested circuit and county judicial elections to November: two candidates advance directly; larger fields narrow to two in August. Clearly notify NPA and minor-party voters of eligibility. Encourage genuine competition through national outreach to qualified candidates, fair qualifying access, transparent performance records, and competent appointments.
Honorable policing and honest governmentSupport officers and public employees who serve with integrity through proper resources, raises, and advancement.
Support officers and public employees who serve with integrity through proper resources, raises, and advancement. Require meaningful oversight and consequences for misconduct, including discipline or removal. Make contracts, spending, and public records transparent. Public office must involve real service, transparent compensation, and accountability; public resources should not fund personal political promotion.
Civil rights and disability accessMake courts, schools, elections, healthcare, public facilities, and government programs meaningfully accessible.
Make courts, schools, elections, healthcare, public facilities, and government programs meaningfully accessible. Protect people from discrimination, retaliation, exploitation, and abuse of authority. Disability and poverty must not determine whose rights are respected.
Florida’s land, water, farms, and communitiesProtect trees, lakes, waterways, beaches, wildlife, and agricultural land.
Protect trees, lakes, waterways, beaches, wildlife, and agricultural land. Support farmers, small businesses, and Florida citrus. Match growth to water, infrastructure, housing, transportation, and residents’ quality of life. Protect Florida’s character and opportunities for families, workers, and retirees.
Resident protections during constructionRequire clear advance communication about significant work near homes, responsible contacts, inspections, safety, accountability, and property restoration.
Require clear advance communication about significant work near homes, responsible contacts, inspections, safety, accountability, and property restoration. Preserve original-condition-or-better restoration where required by the applicable agreement, permit, standard, or commitment.
Require advance notices that clearly identify the work, schedule, potential impacts, who authorized it, who is doing it, and whom residents can contact about problems. Notices must be easy to recognize and understand.
Florida-owned AI-driven ride-sharingBuild a statewide Florida-owned, AI-driven ride-sharing platform to support drivers, lower family costs, and keep more money in Florida.
Build a statewide Florida-owned, AI-driven ride-sharing platform to support drivers, lower family costs, and keep more money in Florida. More money for our drivers. More money for our families. More money staying in Florida.
Public money for public serviceMy Clickbait Ban Bill concept would prevent taxpayer money, public staff time, equipment, vendors, and official work hours from funding politicians’ personal social-media promotion.
My Clickbait Ban Bill concept would prevent taxpayer money, public staff time, equipment, vendors, and official work hours from funding politicians’ personal social-media promotion. Personal or campaign promotion should use private or campaign resources. Redirect waste toward services and workers.
The Bernstein Bill: judicial competition and voter awarenessI also plan to create and fight for the Bernstein Bill.
I also plan to create and fight for the Bernstein Bill. Across Florida, no judge should be able to win an election unopposed. Every judicial election should require at least one opponent, and every judicial election should be publicly advertised on social media so voters know who is running and what is at stake.
Florida University Health SystemBring Florida universities and healthcare together within the Florida Institutes of Health mission.
I propose creating a Florida University Health System (FUHS) within the Florida Institutes of Health mission, bringing Florida universities and healthcare together. I want private universities, including the University of Miami, to join the public system.
Public AI ownership and private data centersI propose prohibiting private AI data centers in Florida and building My Florida AI as the public system.
I propose prohibiting private AI data centers in Florida and building My Florida AI as the public system. Protect Florida’s grid, land, water, and utilities, and reduce dependence on outside private AI platforms.
Florida Executive Service Continuity Act (FESCA)Create optional, duty-based public-service roles for eligible former Governors and Lieutenant Governors to reduce donor dependence, influence-selling, and pressure to pursue outside interests.
Create optional, duty-based public-service roles for eligible former Governors and Lieutenant Governors to reduce donor dependence, influence-selling, and pressure to pursue outside interests. Preserve experience for disaster recovery, transitions, agency performance, infrastructure, veterans, healthcare, homelessness, and other assigned Florida service. My revised sponsor concept requires lawful appointment, appropriations, written work plans, deliverables, annual public reporting, financial disclosure, and ethics review. Pay is only for authorized work actually performed, with documented support costs and lawful limits. Prohibit paid lobbying, access-selling, conflicted consulting, and paid foreign-government influence work while compensated. Provide removal, loss of pay, and authorized repayment or referrals for violations. These are advisory and service roles, not independent executive command offices or automatic lifetime pay.
Florida First Talent Pipeline participationThe proposed talent pipeline includes paid internships and co-ops, apprenticeships, senior design projects, mentorship, research, scholarships, job shadowing, campus and company visits, résumé/interview preparation, and security-clearance readiness education.
The proposed talent pipeline includes paid internships and co-ops, apprenticeships, senior design projects, mentorship, research, scholarships, job shadowing, campus and company visits, résumé/interview preparation, and security-clearance readiness education. Connect students with aerospace, defense, engineering, AI, cyber, manufacturing, energy, and space employers. Include Florida public-university students, veterans, first-generation students, and working-class students. Lockheed Martin and L3Harris were requested outreach targets; no signed partnership is claimed. Employer benefits include early talent access, retention, tailored training, university relationships, and workforce-grant alignment.
Veterans and medical-research prioritiesBuild Florida’s own capacity to serve veterans, including those living with paralysis, alongside families and other residents.
Build Florida’s own capacity to serve veterans, including those living with paralysis, alongside families and other residents. The earlier research proposal specifically includes neurologic impairment, paralysis, Krabbe disease, and Canavan disease. These are treatment and research priorities, not a guarantee that cures will be delivered within a governor’s term.
Adoption, surrogacy, and family fairnessI oppose condemning adoption or surrogacy simply because a gay person is involved.
I oppose condemning adoption or surrogacy simply because a gay person is involved. Love, character, responsibility, safety, and stability should guide how we judge caregivers. Preserve clear notice, fair investigations, and accessible review when schools, DCF, courts, or other institutions affect parents and children.
Practical court access and AI administrationUse AI for docket monitoring, deadline tracking, record preservation, ADA-request monitoring, and detecting procedural failures, with human control.
Use AI for docket monitoring, deadline tracking, record preservation, ADA-request monitoring, and detecting procedural failures, with human control. My related DattoAI work also proposes access to authoritative AI legal research for self-represented litigants, including a pilot; it is not an enacted state program or a substitute for legal representation.
Public-safety spending and public observationRequire necessity and cost review before major police-fleet purchases; compare patrol e-bikes and police vehicles with proposed motorcycles.
Require necessity and cost review before major police-fleet purchases; compare patrol e-bikes and police vehicles with proposed motorcycles. Oppose using public money to build a police station on contaminated land, and require environmental disclosure. Support public recording of government work and visibility into both good and bad performance. No particular site’s contamination or person’s misconduct is established by this platform.
Permanent toll reliefPermanent toll restructuring and relief for Florida families.
Lead a legislative coalition for permanent toll restructuring and relief for Florida families.
Service priorities and compensationI opposed the proposed large increase in gubernatorial pay and said approximately $140,000 would satisfy me.
I opposed the proposed large increase in gubernatorial pay and said approximately $140,000 would satisfy me. I also favor opportunities for young people at home and oppose sending them into unnecessary overseas wars.
Funding and education proposalsI propose tourism, medical tourism, innovation hubs, and premium nonresident services to support resident affordability, including sliding-scale healthcare.
I propose tourism, medical tourism, innovation hubs, and premium nonresident services to support resident affordability, including sliding-scale healthcare. I prioritize traditional public-school investment and reevaluating spending diverted from those schools. This includes teacher pay, career education, special-needs support, school safety, technology, and smaller classes where possible.
Additional policy developmentI have proposed tying state support for private healthcare and university institutions to participation in the Florida Institutes of Health mission.
I have proposed tying state support for private healthcare and university institutions to participation in the Florida Institutes of Health mission. I have also considered affordable higher-capacity AI access for elderly and disabled residents and potentially single mothers or other people with documented need, including access commitments linked to state cooperation on AI development.
Make Your Voice Shine FloridaTalent beyond singing, public education, public resources, and building hotels for homeless people.
Make Your Voice Shine Florida gives Floridians opportunities to showcase talent beyond singing and bring resources to public education and public needs throughout the state. Its mission includes building hotels for people experiencing homelessness so they have a safe place to stay. A kickoff in Hialeah is proposed. This initiative is in development; participation, funding, event arrangements, and hotel operations are not yet established.
Remove revenue-driven red-light camerasI call for removing red-light cameras that operate as revenue traps.
I call for removing red-light cameras that operate as revenue traps.
Free English and Spanish coursesFree statewide English and Spanish learning, with completion certificates and graduation incentives.
I will make English-proficiency courses available throughout Florida, free of charge for everyone, with special emphasis on Hialeah. If we want Florida to be a global economic leader, we need to help people speak English more fluently. Spanish classes will also be available free of charge to everyone who wants to learn Spanish.
Graduates will receive a certificate of completion and a financial incentive through compensation or tax relief. Learning a language should create opportunity, and we will reward people for completing their course.
Recycling modeled on New JerseyClear guidance and practical collection access for Floridians who want to recycle.
I want Florida to build a recycling program modeled on New Jersey’s. People who want to recycle should have clear instructions and practical access to collection. Recycling belongs in our plan to protect Florida’s communities and environment. Make it easier for residents to understand what goes in each bin, find collection services, and participate in keeping their communities clean.
Healthy aging and dignitySupport healthy aging and help older Floridians remain active, independent, and respected.
Support healthy aging and help older Floridians remain active, independent, and respected. Fight age discrimination and mental-health stigma. People deserve to be judged by their abilities, character, and contributions.
Florida citrus and small farmsI want Florida to lead in citrus and agricultural innovation.
I want Florida to lead in citrus and agricultural innovation. Support small farmers, protect agricultural land, and connect local agriculture with education, community participation, and opportunities to build a livelihood.
Election information for every voterMake NPA and minor-party participation information prominent in election notices, mail-voting instructions, sample ballots, early-voting materials, and polling-place communications.
Make NPA and minor-party participation information prominent in election notices, mail-voting instructions, sample ballots, early-voting materials, and polling-place communications. Voters should know which elections they can participate in.
AI literacy and community learningExpand access to practical AI education and digital skills.
Expand access to practical AI education and digital skills. The Hialeah Learning Lab concept connects community learning with the broader goal of making useful technology accessible to ordinary people.
Cuban families and humanitarian valuesI care about ordinary Cuban families and people in Hialeah whose loved ones live in Cuba.
I care about ordinary Cuban families and people in Hialeah whose loved ones live in Cuba. I want less suffering, not more. My approach begins with human dignity and a preference for love over war.
